A PRIMARY school is going to have its playground brightened up with artwork created by the pupils.
Years five and six at Northern Primary School, Bacup, have been working with Lancashire-based artist Margaret Jackson sketching murals of the local environment.
The murals are now in their final stages and show images of Bacup and Weir.
Parents have also been involved in the project helping to reproduce the children's work on to large boards.
Headteacher Tracey Jackson said: "This project has been invaluable. It will not only brighten up the school playground but has given the older children the opportunity to work alongside an artist.
"The parents and volunteers working on the project have been a major asset, giving up their own time to see the mural ready for the playground.
"Without them it would not have been possible. This mural will be a major achievement for the school."
