SAVINGS and low-cost loans group, Colne and District Credit Union, has rung up its 100th loan -- just 18 months after the branch got under way.
The saver, who has not been named, is using the cash for a holiday during the coming wakes weeks.
The Credit Union encourages anyone in the Colne and outlying area to join up, save regularly and then take out loans for any number of users, from home improvements to buying a car.
Borrowers are charged just 1p interest per £1 borrowed per month (12.6 per cent APR), with no additional charges for setting up, settling early or life insurance cover automatically provided.
Longer-established groups such as Nelson Community Credit Union are able to pay a four per cent dividend on savings.
Further information on joining the Colne union is available by calling David Penney, chairman on 01282 870076.
