AFTER 18 months' hard work at a cost of £25,000, Baxenden's 'Focal Point' was unveiled.
Residents, representatives of funding bodies, contractors, councillors, and the design team from Baxenden school were all at the opening of the garden, at the junction of Southwood Drive and Manchester Road.
Funded by Hyndburn Borough Council outer towns panel and Lancashire Waste Services, it features two benches decorated with scenes from Baxenden past and present, plants and shrubs and a signpost pointing to five key locations. It will soon include 'welcome' signs designed by Hollins High School pupils.
