BACUP-BASED Petra Hellas has beaten off the cream of Europe's top fireplace designers to win a prestigious international award.
The company took the award for best fireplace assembly at the international Hearth and Home exhibition in Harrogate.
The winning entry was a contemporary design in natural wood and slate, called Stratos.
A new electric fire designed by the company, which incorporates cascading water, was also highly commended at tyhe awards ceremony.
Petra Hellas is one of the UK's leading designers and manufacturers, with a reputation for avant-garde styles as well as traditional fireplaces in wood, marble and stone.
The company is based at the Toll Bar Business Park and is run by business partners Tracey and Danny Struddwick.
