A FORMER Blackburn man was among those made an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
David Whalley, a former pupil of St Silas and Billinge Technical College, received the honour for services to regeneration in Barnsley where he has lived since leaving Sheffield University.
Mr Whalley was born and brought up on Woodbine Street by parents John, a ward manager at Queens Park General Hospital, and Brenda a nurse at Lark Hill Health Centre. They now live in Sheffield near their son.
