AMBITIOUS Accrington Stanley boss John Coleman is in talks with a Nationwide second division striker about a move to the Crown Ground.

Coleman spoke to the player yesterday about the prospect of linking up with the Reds as they prepare to launch an assault on the UniBond Premier Division title next season.

And the Stanley chief has planned further talks for later this week as he looks to boost his firepower before pre-season training starts next month.

"We've had talks and the player said he'd get back to me later this week," said Coleman.

"He has told me there are a number of other clubs interested in signing him as well.

"But I'll give him all the time he needs to make up his mind because he's been up front with me all the way through."

Coleman has yet to make a signing this summer but he is confident things will start falling into place in the next few weeks.

Another defender is also high on his list of priorities and he is hoping to make progress on that front in the next few days.
