I READ the usual moans of the Liberal Democrat leader Councillor Paul Browne (LET, June 13) complaining about the Prime Minister getting a wage of £163,000 to run the country and other top ministers getting £118,000.

These figures are for a year, not a month as some of our famous footballers get paid.

On Page 10 of the same paper, I read of executive officers of JJB Sports getting £312,000, £247,000, £175,000, all plus other benefits.

On Page 13 I read that two directors of Scapa, which not long ago was shedding jobs, have shared bonuses of £26,820 on top of salaries of £178,000 and £120,000.

This country is run on the cheap if company directors can get more than people who have to undertake all that responsibility.
