IRISH eyes were certainly smiling for a four-strong Bury team who completed a fund-raising Dublin Challenge.
The foursome, residents of the town's Howarth Close Hostel for those with learning difficulties, certainly cut a dash to Dublin and helped raise money for Leonard Cheshire Homes.
Under the rules, the team had to get to Dublin before 12.30pm last Sunday. But each member was only allowed to spend £10 on travel.
And another stipulation was that the group should raise a minimum of £450 for the Leonard Cheshire Homes.
But thanks to sponsorship from friends and companies, Bury's squad arrived at their destination the day before the deadline.
Apex Nursing and Care Services kindly provided a vehicle for the foursome and their three carers who subsequently boarded the ferry from Holyhead to Ireland. The ferry operators kindly gave the party a 50 per cent discount. The Bury foursome returned home on Monday. Thanks to their involvement, the team have raised around £1,500 for Leonard Cheshire.
