DRIVERS are urgently needed for the Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Council for Voluntary Service transport scheme.
The bureau offers transport for the elderly or disabled people who find it difficult or impossible to use public transport.
Julie Sumner, bureau manager, said: "We are desperately trying to recruit new drivers so that we can expand and offer people a better service so that elderly and/or disabled people get get to appointments."
She explained that when a client rang in the service tried to match them with a driver nearest to their home.
There is a charge of 28p a mile for the first 30 miles and 20p a mile thereafter payable to the driver at the end of the journey.
Volunteers must be over 18 years with a clean driving licence and have a caring nature.
Anyone interested can get more information from Janette Holden, transport organiser or Julie on 01282 415163 between 9-11am Monday to Friday.
The bureau will be closed from July 12-31.
