A TEACHER has been remanded to await trial after denying sex abuse allegations.
Colin Povey, 41, a languages teacher at Haslingden High School, faces five charges of indecent assault, and three alleged serious sex offences against the same boy. The offences are alleged to have been committed between 1992 and 1993.
Povey, of Narcissus Avenue, Haslingden, was arrested as part of a Lancashire police investigation into allegations of child abuse at residential care homes, schools and other establishments over the last 30 years.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges when he appeared at Preston Crown Court today and was bailed until January next year. The trial is expected to last ten days.
