AN exciting superstore project will brighten school playtimes.
The scheme to bring playground paintings and games to children at Golborne County Primary School is part of Asda supermarket's 'Get Involved for Kids' project.
Customers and staff from the Golborne store nominated the school for the voluntary project, which will involve re-designing and painting the school's large playground.
The surface of the playground has severely deteriorated in recent years, reducing the visibility of the netball court and games markings.
Mr Andy Olchowski, deputy head, said: "We hope to replace the badly weathered markings, as well as adding new and exciting playground games."
Among proposed improvements are a large clockface, a maze, and a new, colourful game of snakes and ladders. The nomination is another success for the school, which already holds a Government-awarded Certificate of Excellence for its after-school club.
Mr Olchowski added: "We are very pleased to be chosen by Asda for this venture."
School and supermarket staff will finalise plans and Gary Hobson, Asda Golborne store manager, said: "We are looking forward to getting stuck in and really making a difference."
