ROYAL Marine Commando Scott James Farquhar, caught short after leaving a Whalley nightclub, urinated in full view of members of the public and a police patrol.

Blackburn magistrates heard that the 23-year-old soldier had been "desperate" to go but was not allowed to return to the club.

Farquhar, of 40 Commando RM, Northern Manor Camp, Taunton, Somerset, was convicted in his absence of urinating in a public place.

He was fined £40 with £35 costs.

David Hartley, prosecuting, said PC James Sultan and a colleague were parked across the road from Rendezvous nightclub in Accrington Road at 2am when Farquhar left the club.

He ran into a small car park and urinated against the wall. PC Sultan said Farquhar was just feet from the main road and people leaving the club could clearly see what he was doing.

In a letter to the court, Farquhar admitted the offence and apologised to the court for wasting time.

He said he was not able to attend court in person because he was away on exercises.
