SUNDAY July 1 sees the start of Rainford CC's annual festival of cricket with record breaking Aussie skipper Andrew Robinson's First XI taking on the might of the Presidents XI. Tony Hemmingway's XI features Neil Rimmer from Leyland, New Zealand test prospect Neil Parlane, also currently braking run scoring records at Fleetwood Hesketh, a number of Lancashire county juniors and prominent local league stars. The feast of cricket continues on Monday 2, Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 when Lancashire schools under 11, under 13 and under 15 'B' entertain their Yorkshire counterparts respectively.
