GUEST speaker, Mrs Pat Hayward entertained members of Rainford WI with a talk entitled 'Sugar, Spice, Salt and Vinegar' in which she spoke of the history of the use of the four ingredients and how from olden times they had been used in preservation of food and improving the taste. She also included anecdotes of how she used them in her own cooking, mixing different things together to make new recipes, illustrated by jars of jams and chutneys etc.
The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Eileen Lee,while Mrs Hilda Fitzpatrick won the birthday flowers.
