THE cancellation of the TT Races because of the foot and mouth epidemic has caused heavy losses for ferry company Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

Compared to the same period in 2000, May's passenger figures were down by 57,104 and vehicles numbers were down by 12,044 vehicles.

The company is now leading a major TV, radio and press campaign, backed by the Manx tourist industry, reminding people that the island is open for buisness.
