I WAS horrified to read in last week's Citizen newspaper that plans have been submitted by NPL Estates for the former ICI industry site at Hillhouse, Thornton-Cleveleys. The plans include neighbourhood centre, bike ride, shops and offices. Could anybody please forward any information you may have or where I can gain information regarding the regulations on building on contaminated land?
It seems ironic to put plans forward for a medical centre on land that might be contaminated. Surely this could endanger people's lives in years to come. What about the other companies Silverfield Ltd, Asahi Glass Fluropolymers (UK) Ltd, Astra Zeneca (UK) Ltd, European Vinyls Corporation (UK) Ltd, EVC Compounds Ltd, Victrex Manufacturing Ltd and Depuy CMW? All these companies deal with chemicals. Not a healthy bike ride.
Information can be gained from the Friends of the Earth (factorywatch) website.
