BLACKPOOL Council leader George Bancroft is being described as 'very poorly but stable' after spending his third week at Blackpool Victoria hospital.

The 65-year-old was previously discharged from hospital after a suspected kidney infection but had to return a few days later due to low blood pressure.

Coun Bancroft, who has suffered three heart attacks, is now suffering from septicaemia which has been traced to a stomach ulcer.

It is not known when he will be able to return home.

Meanwhile Councillor Bancroft's wife is urging well wihers to redirect their calls. Those wanting to pass on messages should contact either Julia Ridyard on 477070 or Diann Pulford on 477001.
