PRESTON followed their recent improvement in league form in sensational style on Saturday by beating top-of-the-table Netherfield.

Preston appeared to be heading to defeat after batting first and scoring just 178 all out with professional Raouf Akbar top scoring with 60. But they dismissed the Cumbrian side for a mere 113 to win by 65 runs thanks in alarge part to Rehman Shah taking 6-46.

LEYLAND and Farrington CC are celebrating winning Nuffield Hospital Cup after beating Darwen by five wickets on Sunday. This is the first trophy for the club since Farrington joined Leyland at the start of the season.

Leyalnd dismissed Darwen for 139 with Man of teh Match Paul Haydock top of teh bowlers with 4-22. Deputy profesional Brendan Nash scored 66 not out to lead Leyland's reply. Captain Brian tennant scored 24 while Charlie Williams was unbeaten on 11.

But the Fox Lane club had less luck on Saturday in the league when they were beaten by two wickets by Kendal.

Leyland scored 165 all out with Pallet top scoring on 63 not out.
