TEN-PIN bowler, Zara Glover, has won an incredible hat-trick of medals at the European Tenpin Bowling Championships in Denmark.

Zara, aged 19, from Whitestake near Preston, and works at the Megabowl at the Capitol Centre, won gold, silver and bronze medals.

She took the ladies trio gold medal on Tuesday afternoon, helping the England team to an incredible score that even beat the championship men's trios record of 3904 set in England in 1997.

All three bowled brilliantly with a final team score of 4061. Denmark's trio, leaders after the first three games, could not withstand the English onslaught and finished 207 pins behind the leaders with the silver medals.

Zara's gold medal was her special achievement in the championships which also saw her win silver in the Ladies' Masters Round Robin, and bronze in the Ladies' Team event. The hat-trick hero said: "It was a great event to take part in and I'm so proud to have come back with the medals.

"Ten-pin bowling is really big in Europe and America.

"In fact when I played in Sweden I was in the national papers and I was recognised when I walked down the street!

"There was a really great team spirit out in Denmark -- in fact there was a great atmosphere among all the competitors -- which made for a fantastic tournament.

"I've thanked everyone for their help, especially the Megabowl at Preston. They allow me to practice for free which can make all the difference between affording to compete at the highest level or not."

Megabowl general manager Andy Coverley said: "We know how much hard work Zara's put in -- so it's great to see her getting the rewards." TEN-PIN TERRIFIC: Zara shows off her three medals.
