SOME of the country's top aviators will "reach for the sky" above Blackpool on Sunday, July 15.

Among the acts soaring above the seafront during the free-to-watch Blackpool Skyshows will be intrepid identical twin aerobabes Lorna and Rachel Cookson, from Preston, who will walk the wings of the Utterly Butterly barnstorming 1940s Boeing Stearman biplanes at 3.30pm.

Those magnificent men in their RAF flying machines take to the sky from 2.45pm with a stunning aerobatic display by the turbo-prop Tucano trainer, followed later in the afternoon by a Warton-built 1,500 mph Tornado F3 fighter (4.20pm).

The nine scarlet Hawks of the world-famous Red Arrows aerobatic team top off the day at 4.35pm providing a spectacular finale to the Blackpool Skyshows.

Dropping in at 2pm will be Team Firestorm, the North West Fire Brigade's parachute display team, while at 11am The Flying Circus rolls into town with their fantastic flying feature kites which set the scene for a great day out on the prom.

Down on the ground, Princess Parade, near North Pier, is the venue for the RAF Show which will take place between July 13 and 16 offering an insight into the fascinating world of the Royal Air Force.

Blackpool Skyshows are organised by Blackpool Tourism in association with the Royal Air Force with the support of the Blackpool Challenge Partnership.
