This week, with GED FUREY, golf professional at Pleasington, Blackburn

HOLIDAY: The first one I remember was when I was 14 and we stayed at a little farm cottage at Pwllheli, Wales. There were housemartins nesting in the building. The golf course was the main thing I remember -- I had always wanted to be a footballer until I went on that site.

HOME: I had a one-bedroomed flat in Ludlow, Shropshire, as a 17-year-old when I got a job as assistant professional at Ludlow. It's quite a nice town and a lovely place to visit. I worked there for about two years.

FRIEND: My very first friend was Colin Williams, when I lived in Manchester. I would have been about seven years old. We lost touch over 20 years ago and I would like to get in touch with him again.

PET: I had a budgie when I was about seven or eight years old. I can't remember his name but I taught him to talk.

LOVE: My wife, Wendy. We have been married 18 years.

RECORD: I Want You Back by the Jackson Five. But the one that has meant the most to me is the album Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd.

CAR: A Ford Capri. I remember getting a black vinyl roof put on it. It was my pride and joy at the time.

JOB: At Manchester Golf Club, Hopwood. I was assistant professional, straight from school. You do a three-year apprenticeship and then become a professional if you pass examinations. I became a professional in 1980.

ROUND OF GOLF: The nine-hole course at Heaton Municipal Park, Manchester, when I was about 13 or 14, and then I moved on to the 18-hole course.

HOLE-IN-ONE: On the main 18-hole Heaton Park golf course, at the 7th. I was probably 15 and was with a golfing friend, Gordon Hayes. The story was in the papers.
