PLANS for 11 three-storey linked houses and garages in Laneshawbridge have been given the green light by councillors despite strong opposition from residents.
The application at Valley Mill, in School Lane, was deferred from the Colne and District Committee in May and the Policy Committee last month to allow the applicant, Skipton Properties, to submit an amended plan to show off-street parking for residents of School Lane.
The company has since agreed to the request in the form of a lay-by along School Lane.
Objections to the plans were made at a recent meeting of the Laneshawbridge Parish Council and stated that the access site would be dangerous to traffic travelling along School Lane with the amount of extra traffic that would be generated.
It was also suggested that the extra traffic would present safety problems for the existing residents and occupiers of the new houses. The residents had been using the derelict site for parking.
