SWIMMING for two and a half miles, then cycling for 112 miles would test the will of anybody, but Steven Keeble must do this -- then run a full marathon if he is to realise his dream of becoming an 'Iron Man'.
Steven, 37, is currently serving with the Royal Engineers and lives with his family in Bergen, Germany.
He has competed in normal triathlon events for several years and been training since January, but tomorrow's Iron Man Long Distance Triathlon in Both, Germany, will be his toughest test.
The Helmshore squaddie is competing to raise money for the NSPCC. He said: "I am the father of three children and was particularly disturbed to learn that at least one child dies every week as a result of cruelty. That is why I am promoting the NSPCC through this event."
Anyone wishing to sponsor the former Fearns High School pupil can do so by calling Jennie Tipper of the NSPCC on 020 78252663.
