ON a sunny morning at the Market Street track in Bury, children from 32 junior schools from around the borough competed in the annual athletics event.
The young athletes ran the 60m, 100m, 800m and relay events and competed in the long jump. In front of a large, supportive crowd, the youngsters rose to the occasion with some excellent performances.
And despite wearing number 13 this young boy, who is pictured taking part in the long jump, was hoping for luck.
The overall winners were Bury Grammar School with 43 points, second were Chantlers Primary with 35 points, third were Hollymount RC Primary on 26 points with Old Hall Primary and Radcliffe Junior School sharing fourth place with 25 points each.
