THE father of pop star Suzanne Shaw spoke of his relief after her band Hear'Say found their way to the top of the charts for a second time, with the smash hit The Way To Your Love.
Suzanne and fellow band members had pinned high hopes on their second single release, the success of which pop pundits said would "make or break" the band.
Hear'Say's first hit Pure and Simple broke first day sales records when it topped the charts, and became the third biggest selling debut record of all time.
And although sales of the new single taken from the band's album Popstars have been significantly slower, they were still enough for it to top the charts.
Speaking from his home in Bury, Suzanne's dad Vinnie Crowshaw, said: "Suzanne was really hoping that it would get to number one and it has. I must admit that I was a bit uncertain because the album, which has the single on it, has sold so well itself.
"In the early days for bands releasing records. It's all about whether the proverbial bubble is going to burst, but I think from the amount of people that speak to me, and what they say about the band, they are still very popular."
