EYEWEAR design guru Stuart Jones is to spearhead a styling revolution in high street opticians.
The move by Whitefield man Stuart Jones follows a merger deal with Brosgill and Procter, possibly the north's fastest growing optical group.
And the locally-born spectacle supremo's own name will be the brand that launches a completely new styling service that will ensure customers get the frames to suit their looks and their lifestyle without the cost of bespoke styling consultations.
Brosgill and Procter, with a projected turnover for the current year of £3.5 million, have eight branches in Ramsbottom, Leeds, Harrogate and Manchester.
Stuart will remain in Manchester, based at the company's West Pennine flagship store in plush premises at the former Bank of England building in King Street. This store will trade under the name of Stuart Jones. "Quite simply, I have devised a system that will make the high standards of Stuart Jones styling available to a whole new audience," said Stuart.
"Eyewear design based on the principle developed in my former consulting rooms in the Royal Exchange shopping centre will soon be available across the north."
Brosgill and Procter directors Mike Procter and Neil Brosgill had seen how Stuart's unique frame styling technique was having an impact on the market and felt he would be the ideal personality to head up the new approach to spectacle styling.
Stuart is now design director of the company and, as such, is responsible for all design issues within the organisation.
He said: "People know me for the way I describe people's face shapes, descriptions that have helped me design eyewear that suited both the face and the lifestyle of the customer.
"Following my move, I can't possibly offer a style consultation to every client."
He added: "But what I have done is to create a system that ensures the optician or sales person can build up such a detailed picture of the client and his or her needs that we can find a Stuart Jones style profile for that person."
Director Mike Procter said: "We are delighted that Stuart has joined us because together we will be offering our clientele a unique service.
"We will be providing the highest quality of eyewear design to the discerning who will value this totally new concept."
