BURY supporters get their first glimpse of Maltese international trialist Luke Dimech in tomorrow's friendly at Radcliffe Boro.

The 24-year-old defender is in the middle of a three-week spell with the Shakers and is hoping to earn a contract.

Dimech, who plays for Sliema Wanderers in the Maltese Premier Division, has impressed Bury boss Andy Preece who intends to give him a run out in the annual clash against their UniBond League neighbours. Dimech is rated as one of the best players in Malta and has eight international caps.

Former Shakers commercial boss Neville Neville's Maltese connections recommended the player.

"Luke looks a decent player from what we've seen of him so far," said Bury boss Andy Preece. "His fitness levels are very good and it'll be interesting to see him in competitive action.

"With all the early running work now complete we can concentrate on ball work and see how trialists look in match situations."

Kick-off at Stainton Park is 7.45pm, admission is £5 adults; £3 concessions.

Meanwhile striker Lutel James' on-off free transfer has finally gone ahead after he signed a two-year deal with UniBond League Accrington Stanley yesterday.

"He wants first team football and that's something I couldn't promise him," explained Preece. "He goes with our good wishes." at Gigg Lane and although he was offered a one year contract he made the decision to leave and I respect him for that."
