A SUMMER Reading Challenge has again been launched by Chorley district libraries.

Children are being urged to go to their libraries and ask for a special Reading Carnival collection wallet to take part.

For every book they read, they get an illustrated card to put in the wallet.

If youngsters collect a set of six before the challenge ends on September 8, they will get a Reading Carnival medal and a special certificate.

The organisers are optimistic that there will be an enthusiastic response to their initiative from youngsters who will have something to aim for as a reward.

It is part of an ongoing drive to encourage children to maintain a high level interest in reading and word recognition.

A libraries spokesman said: "We have had a fair measure of success with this project in the past and have every reason to believe it will continue."
