DETECTIVES investigating a fire at a house in Hope Street, Brierfield, early yesterday have charged a local man with arson and being reckless as to whether life would be endangered.
The 54-year-old man was appearing before Pennine magistrates in Burnley today.
The house was badly damaged by the fire which was attended by firefighters from Nelson who attended shortly before 12.45am.
The kitchen/dining room was destroyed in the fire, which caused severe damage to the living room and smoke damage to rooms on the first floor.
