A MAN who lost four fingers when his hand was run over by a train after he fell asleep on a railway line is to be interviewed by British Transport Police.

David Robert Whitely, 39, of New Lane, Oswaldtwistle, lost four fingers on one hand when he was struck by a train travelling from Colne to Blackpool on Sunday night.

The crew of the train stopped and used a mobile telephone to call for an ambulance. He was taken to Rishton station where he was treated before being moved to Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
