THE search was continuing today for the Calderstones Hospital missing patient - one week after he absconded while on a home visit to Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police and Lancashire Police are liaising to find Andrew Sutcliffe, who slipped out of the back door of his mum's home in the Burnage area, after he told the female member of staff who accompanied him he was going to the toilet.

Mr Sutcliffe, 18, was admitted to the Whalley hospital via the courts, and is a resident on the more secure West Drive unit.

Calderstones NHS Trust chief executive Russ Pearce said Mr Sutcliffe was not a danger to the public although raised concern about his disappearance.
