ALEXANDER Bone McClean turned to drink to drown his depression over an acrimonious divorce.
Blackburn magistrates heard that the 35-year-old father of five was found lying on the floor in Fleming Square, Blackburn, and when police approached he was unable to stand unassisted.
When the officers asked McClean where he lived he mumbled incoherently and he was arrested.
McClean, of Union House, St Peter Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to being found drunk. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £25 costs.
Graham Parkinson, defending, said the offence was at the very bottom of the criminal scale.
"He was found drunk and was not even disorderly," said Mr Parkinson.
"He is going through a divorce at the moment and his wife, at the present time, is refusing to let him see his five children.
"That is making him feel down and depressed and yesterday he decided to alleviate his blues by drinking."
Mr Parkinson said McClean had started drinking about 9am and by 8pm the results were plain to see.
