FRASER Snape is on course to make it three wins on the row in the North Lancs Road Club's time trial competition.

Having set a new course record last week, the Simonstone flyer was first home in the 11th of the 16th race series.

Snape, a member North Lancs Road Club, completed the 10 mile course in 23 minutes 31 seconds to maintain his 12 point lead at the top.

It was 16 seconds slower that last week's record breaking run -- but that was due to the culminations of the blustery conditions and the absence of Wiswell's Guy Laycock who pushed him all the way.

Snape's closest rival Ken Holden from Accrington had to settle for fifth fastest time on a course that laps around Edisford Bridge and Higher Hodder.

Holden, a fellow NWLC member, finished in 25.50.

That meant that Barnoldswick's Dave Metcalfe, who races for the Clayton Velo team, was second place in 24.58 in a reduced field of 10 riders.

Peter Briscoe of Great Harwood, who also races for Clayton Velo, was third in 25.18.

Blackburn's Dave Hargreaves of NLRC was fourth in 25.28.

There was a tie for sixth place with Richard Hull of Blackburn and Martin Smithson of Great Harwood crossing the line in the exact time.

The NLRC and Clayton Velo riders finished with a time of 25.54.

David Tomlinson of NLRC from Clayton-le-Moors was eighth in 28.01.

Edwin Booth, chairman of the North West supermarket chain Booth's, also turned out and finished in ninth position.

The Clayton Velo rider crossed the line in 28.01 just seven second quicker than Graham Cottam of Padiham riding for the NLRC team.
