AS the town of Basingstoke has been developed by the people wanting to do the same to Preston, I wrote to a colleague of mine at the Gas Pension Unit there, and asked if he would send me a photograph of their new bus station.

He replied by phone today to say that this was not possible for though their old bus station was demolished over two years ago and they still have no bus station, and won't have for at least another two years.

The people there just queue in the street at bus stops, with no shelter from the elements. I go down myself each year in August, and Basingstoke is not a complete one-way town.

The system is anti-clock wise and so to get from B to A you have to go all the way through the alphabet a distance of one mile by car or bus to go to A a few hundred yards away.Even Preston's ring road is acceptable after that.
