RAMSBOTTOM had the best possible weekend, powering to two victories and securing 22 points.

Colne were the unfortunate victims on both occasions as the Rams did the double over their rivals.

And the hero was Brad Hodge who was in devastating form with the bat.

On Saturday Hodge scored his fifth century of the season - and his second in succession - making 109 which included seven fours and four sixes.

Nick Riley chipped in with a crucial 37 as Rammy reached 205 for 6.

In reply Colne made a quick-fire start and seemed to be cruising at 88 for 0 after 20 overs.

The Hodge got in on the act again. The Aussie took the wicket of both openers, then crucially dismissed Colne pro Marcus North cheaply.

Mark Price then waded in, taking five wickets and Ramsbottom won by 21 runs.

The following day play did not start until 3.45pm and the game was reduced to 32 overs a side.

With rapid runs the order of the day, Colne did well. Opener Gary Hunt hit 81 and pro North hit 42.

But Colne - who were sick of the sight of Hodge after the two days play - didn't reckon with the unstoppable Aussie as he cracked 81 off just 54 balls.

Despite the loss of Simon Lord and Mark Dentith, Hodge's tremendous performance was enough to secure another excellent win.
