A TERRIFIED woman was confronted by a robber who pointed a gun at her in her own kitchen.

Police said the incident happened on Tuesday, July 17, when a white man aged around 25-35 years was trying to get in the back window.

The woman was alone in the house, when she confronted him.

The man then produced a hand gun and pointed it at the 32-year-old female who stood petrified while he backed out of the window and ran from the scene.

Police are treating this matter very seriously and are appealing for any witnesses or any one who can provide information.

The robber is described as being skinny, with short brown spiky hair, brown eyes, a long thin face, a black jacket and blue jeans.

Detective inspector, Joe Kellet, CID, said: "Any burglary or attempted burglary at someone's house is very distressing for the occupant.

"This particular offender appears to have a fire arm or an imitation and we have seen in other gun related offences around the country, offenders putting either themselves in danger or other members of the public."

He added: "The individual needs to be caught and the fire arm taken out of circulation."
