SISQO: Sing For Me (Def Soul) -- Catchy, simple, provocative lyrics seems to be Sisqo's strong point. Following on from his success last year with Thong Song, the pop-star-turned-film star is back with an equally catchy effort in the form on Sing for Me. Simple music in the background ensure this tune will be carried through the air poolside at numerous holiday destinations around the Med this summer (7/10) DH

MARIAH CAREY: Loverboy (Virgin) -- The controversy surrounding her video seems to detract from the big issue: Can she actually sing? Sure, she can holler, moan and groan but can she sing? Rap cameos from Da Brat and Ludacris actually make this a catchy tune but is it time for the girl to start singing? (6/10) DH

DA HOOL: Meet Her At The Love Parade (Manifesto) -- If you've heard this tune on Radio One, you could be mistaken for thinking it was a three-minute plug for their now-cancelled festival in Newcastle. Heard anywhere else, it is an infectious tune which stays in the head for hours and is destined to be a hit on credible dancefloors everywhere. (8/10) DH

THE BETA BAND: Hot shots II (Regal) -- Keeping a unique sound without the recklessness and anarchy which has reined in their efforts before, this is a bizarre effort, combining rhythms, rambling melodies and amusing lyrics. It could produce some hits -- or, then again, maybe it won't. (6/10) DH

AALIYAH: Aaliyah (Virgin) -- A name everybody has heard of but nobody can name a tune from, Aaliyah has been knocking around for quite a bit, but only cracked the top 10 when her track appeared in the Romeo and Juliet film. A kind of pure Destiny's Child, this music has a summery sound, combining prolific vocals with a great R and B sound. Try Again, the single currently on air, is typical of what to expect. (8/10) DH
