SOUNESS today declared himself satisfied with last night's scrappy 2-2 draw against Crailsheim, despite watching his side throw away a 2-0 lead.

Goals from David Dunn and Martin Taylor had put Rovers firmly in the driving seat against the plucky part-timers, who play in the German fifth division.

However, Ghanaian Under 23 international Joseph Fameyeh then fired a couple of second half goals as the hosts battled back to gain a hugely creditable draw.

"That was ideal, it was just what we wanted," said Souness. "We needed a harder game after what happened on Monday night and that's

exactly what we got which can only be good at this stage of the season.

"Given the amount of training we're doing as well as trying to play games, especially with the amount of travelling involved, it's probably asking too much to expect people to be looking sharp and ready at this point.

"So we're just trying to give everyone as much of a game as possible.

"Matt Jansen and Tugay both played 90 minutes the other night so we decided to rest them and it's all about shuffling things about to share the workload.

"But we're getting exactly what we want from this tour.

"A few of the lads are a bit behind where we'd like them to be but that's purely because they've picked up niggles in the first week of training."

Souness also handed new £6.75 million signing Corrado Grabbi his debut as a second half substitute after a foot injury kept him out of Monday night's 12-0 victory over Abtenau.

And the Rovers boss was happy with the 25-year-old's contribution.

"He did okay but then it was a difficult game to come in and make your debut because we looked tired as a team, which is understandable," said Souness.
