DIDN'T our council disagree with the public's choice of a 'northern' link when last consulted in 1997?

Why do some councillors persist in a policy which yields nothing from governments of left or right?

Is there intent to mislead in labelling a central eastern link in 'northern', a southbound road as 'western' and an environmentally questionable route as 'green'?

And is there a hidden agenda? Are there moves to take Torrisholme land earmarked for roads out of the district plan? If so, who else has an eye on that land?

The only ones trapped behind the Lune are the business interests and the hug population of the Morecambe and Heysham peninsula.

A link with a branch near the university only reflects the lobby of an articulate minority.

The 'northern' 'orange' link to Jcn 34 would take a lot of daytime queuing off the journeys each way along Caton Road.

Purely on account of that loss of time transport is thereby encouraged to add an extra 20 quick miles each way via Preston.

It adds to the overloading on the M62 to Yorkshire and the Euroports. Easterly coach firms often prefer to give their trippers and tourists extra time in more accessible resorts.

A 'northern orange' link to an upgraded Jcn 34 saves £7 million with the same upgrade with a 'western green' link.

Being central, the Orange route is the only one that links in all directions. It also avoids the 'expected' western congestion.

The future is clearly 'orange'. Make sure the latest consultation draws a bigger response.

If you have been ignored in the public consultation please write your own postcode and drop a line 'strongly in favour of the northern orange' Heysham-M6 link on the grounds of value for money and its impact on the economy, sending it to: LCC Transport Policy, Freepost, Preston, PR1 8BR. Please do it now.
