Clarets new £500,000 signing Dimitri Papadopoulos is looking forward to a date at...Ewood Park!

For Papadopoulos is set to play there when he leads the Greek Under 21 line against England Under 21s - captained by Blackburn Rovers' David Dunn - at Ewood on Friday, October 5 in what could be a crunch European Championship clash.

If results go England's way, then it could be make or break for both teams in the final qualifying tie.

Clarets fans may have split loyalities on the night, but Papadopoulos is hoping to embrace them with open arms and is delighted that his move to Turf Moor has finally been sealed.

"It feels very good to be here and I'm very glad to have signed," he said. "I've been waiting for this moment for quite a while now.

"The team have been very welcoming to me and I like my new team-mates.

"I first heard about Burnley's interest in me around a month or two ago, after the Under 21 international match against England in which I played."

Papadopoulos also admitted that it has been an ambition of his to play in England for some time.

"I have seen a lot of English football on television back in Greece and I have always liked the style of play here, which is why I wanted to play here.

"I had heard of Burnley because of Nik Michopoulos and because there is a lot of betting on English football back in Greece, so I had seen the name of Burnley before.

"I like the Turf Moor stadium very much. It is a classic English stadium and we only have two or three stadiums like that back in Greece.

"I am very much looking forward to playing there when it is full of supporters."

Papadopoulos joined up with his new team-mates in the Isle Of Man this week following the completion of his move from Arikitas, who he helped get promoted into the Greek top flight last season.

However, he is unlikely to play in the Manx Tournament final against Oldham on Saturday as the club are still waiting for his international clearance and he is expected to make his debut in the friendly match with Everton on Tuesday.
