PAUL Terzis has scotched the rumours once and for all.

He is not leaving the Centurions to move into Super League with Warrington and will be back at the helm at Hilton Park next season to lead another Leigh fight for promotion.

"I'm going nowhere and haven't been seeking to go anywhere," Terzis told the Journal this week.

"I happy with my lot at Leigh and want to stay on and finish the job that's been started.

"I have not applied for the vacancy at Warrington, haven't been approached by them or anyone else and haven't written off for an application form.

Options to extend

"I'm contracted to Leigh for next season and have options to extend after that. It's not in my mind to move to another club."

With a supreme touch of irony, it's probably the worst-kept secret in the game that Neil Kelly is expected take over as Warrington's number one next Wednesday - irrespective of the result in tomorrow's Grand Final.

The current Widnes boss is thought to have a get-out clause in his contract which allows him an unhindered move into Super League should the opportunity arise. And with new doubts now emerging that tomorrow's NFP Grand Final winners will be promoted, Kelly may have pre-empted a decision to switch to three divisions next season.

Warrington have called a Wilderspool press conference next Wednesday, the day after Kelly guides Wales against England at Wrexham.

The return to three divisions - consisting of 10 teams per division - is thought to be the main plan of action for the game contained in a strategic review document due to be announced by the game's bosses in August.

Bottom two teams

That could mean a 10-team Super League, 10-team NFP1 and 10-team NFP2. The bottom two teams at the end of the current Super League season, probably Huddersfield and Wakefield, would be demoted to join Leigh, Widnes, Rochdale, Oldham, Featherstone, Dewsbury, Hull KR and Keighley in a new NFP1. The remaining teams would make up NFP2. All future competitions would include automatic promotion and relegation between the three divisions.

Terzis is predicting that all three competitions would run in tandem and all start on Boxing Day.

"I've been getting vibes from very influential people over the last six or seven weeks that this is the way the game is going to go," reveals the Hilton Park boss.

"It could be that Neil (Kelly) has made a decision based on the same vibes I've been receiving. That's also probably why the NFP clubs still don't know going into the Grand Final if the winners will be promoted. We were all promised a firm ruling before the play-offs began; now everything is being geared for a big announcement in August."

Terzis says he must know what level Leigh will be competing at next season before he can finalise his team plans.

"We have a few players coming off contract but many will be back with us next year. There will be changes, there always are. There were changes last season and the season before that.

"Until we know exactly where we'll be, it's a question of wait and see."
