ON Saturday Eccleston entertained Singlehurst at Bobbies Lane in what turned out to be a very exciting game.

Batting first Singlehurst struggled to 30-3 in 20 overs. But when Moody came to the crease things began to change. He attacked the Eccleston bowlers to finish on 63 not out. This was a very good innings considering only three other batsmen reached double figures.

Singlehurst ended their innings on 126-7. Only Elliott with 1-7 off 12 overs survived the Singlehurst onslaught with Holden 3-40 and Creak 2-36 sharing the rest of the bowling.

When Eccleston came to the crease they were no quicker at scoring than their opponents.

Manly (21) and Jaundrill (12) contributed to the score, but with one over to go Eccleston required two to win.

Off the last ball of the game when the ball was hit both batsmen set off to run, taking one run and turning for the second, Holden tried in vain to dive to make his ground but unfortunately he was run out with the game ending in a tie.

In the end Holden finished with 16, but credit must go to Jimmy Johnson who hit a magnificent 38 not out.

The bowling for Singlehurst was shared by Sewel 3-16, Smith 2-32 and Ashe 2-30.
