THE ever-popular American Wrestling returns to the Theatre Royal on Saturday, July 28 from 7pm featuring 'the people's champion' Rock Steadfast as The Rock, Brad Texas as Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brad Kirk as Kane. There will also be the first UK appearance of top female wrestlers with Cheri versus Wyomine Wild.

ON Friday, July 27 bands from the St Helens Music Collective will be providing an evening of music at the Citadel, Waterloo Street, starting at 8pm. Due to appear that night are The Shakti, Mechagodizza, Martin Williams and Ian Niccolson.

THE Carr Mill Hotel, East Lancs Road is will be offering its biggest-ever pub quiz prize tonight (Thursday, July 27) when Granada TV's Paul Crane hosts a pub quiz sponsored by Hamlet Cigars. A first prize of £250 of Best Western Hotel vouchers will be on offer, along with a bottle of champagne. The quiz is free to enter and it starts at 9pm.

YORKSHIRE-based medium Stephen Holbrook returns to the Hilton Hotel, St Helens on Sunday, August 5 with curtain up at 7.30pm and doors open from 7pm. Tickets are £7.50 and you can pay on the door or ring 01924 898688.

LOCAL R & B favourites The Swampstompers will be holding court again at the Bell and Barrel, North John Street on Saturday, July 28. Admission is free and the music kicks off at 8.30pm.

SUTTON Manor Art Group are exhibiting their work at the Mansion House, Victoria Square until Friday, July 27. This is open from Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4pm and admission is free.

THE Friends of the Theatre Royal are staging a Dance Evening at Liverpool/St Helens Rugby Club, Moss Lane on Saturday, September 8 from 8pm to midnight.

A JAZZ Rendezvous takes place at the Star Inn, Rainford every Sunday from 8.30pm, admission is free. Guests on July 29 are Terry Porter (reeds), Pete Fryer (trombone), Malcolm Hogarth (piano) and Isobel Toner (bass).

ROSEMARY Tyler, curator of Prescot Museum, will give a talk entitled 'The Mysterious World of Herbs and Potions' at the next meeting of Sutton Historic Society, tonight (Thursday, July 26). Venue is the Wheatsheaf Hotel, Mill Lane, Sutton Leach. The meeting starts at 7pm and admission is free.

NEXT meeting of the St Helens Hard of Hearing Club is on Monday, July 30 at the Deaf Centre, Dentons Green Lane, starting at 1.30pm.

ST HELENS Writers Club meet on Wednesday, August 1 when the topic will be 'Do I Know You?' This is at the Central Library, Victoria Square from 7 to 9pm.
