A BIRTHDAY party went ahead complete with surprise guest-of-honour -- thanks to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
Debbie Marshall contacted the Evening Telegraph hoping to track down Peter Livesey, an old school friend of her partner, Stan Glover.
It was Stan's 50th birthday party on Friday and Debbie wanted to invite Peter to Cumbria for the celebration. The overwhelming response enabled Peter to meet up with his old school chum from Witton Park High School, Blackburn -- for the first time in many years.
Debbie said: "Peter lives in Accrington now and people were ringing him up and telling him about the story. He had 16 messages on his answerphone and I had more than 20 on mine!
"The party was a huge success and the surprise was just perfect.
"They were yakking away about old times and it has rekindled their friendship.
"They are going to stay in touch -- so thank you, Evening Telegraph."
