A DRUNKEN man on crutches because of a broken leg got involved in a fight outside a Blackburn nightclub.

Police found a man unconscious on the ground outside Never Never Land and there was a large amount of blood on his face and head, Blackburn magistrates heard.

And an officer who detained Brian David Carrie nearby found that his right trainer was covered in still-wet blood and there was blood on the end of one of his crutches.

David Macro, prosecuting, said there was a circular mark on the cheek of the injured man which looked like it could have been caused by a crutch.

Carrie, 32, of Bennington Street, Blackburn, admitted affray. He was given a conditional discharge for two years and ordered to pay £70 costs.

Mr Macro said that when interviewed Carrie said he was extremely drunk, but believed he may have kicked out at someone. He said he did not know if he had hit anyone with his crutches.

Michael Blacklidge, defending, said that nobody else involved in the incident had come forward to say what had happened and Carrie's recollection had been blurred by a combination of alcohol and painkillers.

Carrie and friends had gone to Never Never Land, where Carrie was refused admission.
