IWAS amazed at the amount of coverage given by the media to the Queen Mother, who is sadly suffering anaemia. On TV, we were treated to 10 minutes of 'news' on the effects of this condition while, news of the Prime Minister's visit to Argentina was demoted to a mere mention.

While I am a royalist and wish the Queen Mother a speedy recovery, I was dismayed to read that she was given a blood transfusion specifically to enable her to attend her birthday celebrations this weekend.

We were informed by a doctor that the same result could be obtained with dietary iron supplements, but would take several weeks. I was under the impression that the Royal Family were developing their image to be more in tune with their subjects.

I would be grateful if your readers can let me know where I can find a doctor who would not laugh if I was to request a medical procedure, no matter how minor, where there was an alternative medicinal solution.
