GOALKEEPER Carlo Nash has received a boost but could still miss Manchester City's trip to Turf Moor on Bank Holiday Monday.

The former Clitheroe and Rossendale keeper sustained injured ribs after 30 minutes of City's 2-0 defeat at Norwich on Saturday.

It was initially thought that the 28-year-old had broken four ribs, but he was relieved to discover that he had only suffered bruising.

However, the televised clash between Burnley and City on Monday (6.15 kick-off) may come too soon for Nash.

Maine Road manager Kevin Keegan is facing an injury crisis prior to the meeting with the Clarets.

With former Leeds United defender Alfie Haaland already on the long term list he has now lost Jeff Whitley and midfielder Eyal Berkovic to serious injuries.

Midfielder Whitley will not see action again until the New Year after breaking an ankle, while Berkovic, who had a spell on loan with Blackburn Rovers last season before completing a move to Maine Road from Celtic this summer, is counted out after being taken off at Carrow Road after only 20 minutes on Saturday.

The Israeli international tore a hamstring and faces up to two months on the sidelines.

Striker Paulo Wanchope was in hot water, being sent off for a second bookable offence late in the game and was also under the spotlight after an incident involving a ball boy.
