THE sound of wing mirrors clipping as he parked up outside his house was not sweet music for part-time DJ Tony Haworth.

Blackburn magistrates heard that a special constable attending an incident round the corner came to investigate and ended up breathalysing Haworth, who was more than double the legal limit.

Haworth, 24, of Holker Street, Darwen, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was fined £150 with £55 costs and disqualified for two years.

Haworth, who have a reading of 74 against the legal limit of 35, agreed to be referred to the drink drivers' rehabilitation programme which, if completed successfully, will reduce his ban by up to 25 per cent.

Michael Blacklidge, defending, said Haworth had been manoeuvring into the space outside his home when he clipped wing mirrors.

"It was a very minor contact and there was no damage to either vehicle," said Mr Blacklidge.
