NEW boy Chris Lucketti has revealed how he believes yesterday's win against Millwall could prove to be a turning point in North End's season.

Speaking after yesterday's game, he said Tuesday's 4-1 defeat against lower-division Tranmere in the Worthington Cup had led to some serious questions being asked - and real determination to win at home.

He said: "The Tranmere game was awful. We felt we had let not only ourselves down, but the manager, the fans and the people who come to watch us play, like our families.

"We had a serious heart to heart, involving all of us and the manager and we were determined to put things right.

"The win today was very important to us because it gives us confidence.

"Our win was deserved. We didn't give an inch."

Graham Alexander, who was sent up with the new boy to give the post-match press conference, said: "The boss had asked us to remember what it felt like to win, and I think it worked.

"We had lost our confidence and I think we had forgotten what made us so good last season. It was discipline and hard work. I think that has been lacking from some of the players, including myself, in recent games.

"But we worked incredibly hard today and it came together.

"The manager was very pleased by the way we wanted it so much.

"It is good to have that first win. The games come thick and fast now and we need to be ready for them."

Tomorrow, North End travel to West Brom - who have already seen off promotion favourites Man City this season.
