A SUPERB hat trick from Brett Ormerod swept away highly tipped Huddersfield in a 6-goal thriller at the McAlpine Stadium.

The empathic 4-2 victory comes at a similar time in the campaign to the just as impressive 4-1 victory away at Kidderminster last season.

That was the game that was singled out as the turning point in Blackpools season last term and so Steve McMahon will be hoping the same will apply for this season as the Seasiders begin their ascend up the table after their mixed start.

Steve McMahon started with the same team that was so unlucky to crash out of the League Cup to Premiership Leicester on Monday night.

This included the much-criticised midfielder Lee Collins in the centre of midfield.

But the anti-Collins brigade will be somewhat quieter now after the ex-Swindon midfielder followed up impressive performances against Leicester and Oldham with another excellent display which included his first goal in Tangerine colours.

Kevin Pullen remained in goal for Blackpool keeping out Pools regular man between the sticks, Phil Barnes.

Pullen had performed without fault in the previous two games but today he wasnt so lucky after an error in judgement from the on-loan keeper presented Huddersfield with an opening goal.

Nathan Clarke headed into an empty net after Pullen had mis-judged an 18-minute free kick to gift the home side the lead.

John Murphy has yet to score for Blackpool this season and has consequently been under pressure from certain quarters.

But what he lacks in scoring he more than compensates with his ability to create chances for others, as Brett Ormerod will no doubt testify.

In this game, Lee Collins was the grateful receiver, latching onto a pass from Murphy to level the scores seven minutes later.

Blackpool didnt look back from then on as the Seasiders swept aside Huddersfield, starting with a Brett Ormerod goal just minutes after the Collins equaliser.

Ormerod, who just cant seem to stop scoring at the moment, was in the right place at the right time yet again to head home Ritchie Wellens 30th minute corner.

Chance after chance came to Blackpool and in particular Ormerod as the Seasiders searched for a decisive third goal before half time. But an array of missed opportunities meant that in the end Pool had to wait for the 64th minute in the second half for that killer goal.

It came from who else but Ormerod when the Tangerines top goalscorer ran through on goal to round the keeper and coolly slot home for 3-1.

However as streams of disgruntled home supporters left the stadium, Huddersfield's John Thorrington gave his side and supporters a lifeline when he waltzed though the Blackpool defence to score and put the game at 3-2.

But Ormerod made sure the points were going back to Bloomfield Road with his third goal in the fourth minute of stoppage-time after some intelligent play from Graham Fenton.

In the end no one could argue with the 4-2 score line, as it was a thoroughly deserved victory for Steve McMahon's men.

A repeat performance week in week out should easily ensure Blackpool don't get roped into a relegation dogfight come the end of the season.

RESULT:

Huddersfield 2-4 Blackpool
